Herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1) is the range of a typical cold sore that usually break on the lips, mouth and face, although the virus can be broken with the fingers, or in the eyes causing "pink eye" or conjunctivitis. This virus can also (rarely) extends to the brain causing encephalitis or brain inflammation. The virus is spread through contact, either sick or fluid contained in a highly contagious illness, although the virus can be spread without any signs of injury. It was thought that one must have an active case of herpes, but it turned out not to be true. This virus can also cause genital herpes.

Herpes simplex type 2 (HSV-2) is a virus that usually causes genital herpes and spread through intercourse. The blisters break out on the genital area leaving ulcerated sores, but symptoms vary from person to person. Condoms can reduce but not eliminate the risk of infection. Blood tests are available but the most positive way to tell if you have genital herpes is to be seen by a doctor at the time of the outbreak. Samples can then be taken from the hospital and will be diagnosed in the laboratory.

Herpes zoster is the virus that causes chicken pox and shingles. Herpes zoster usually develops in the adult years with people who have had chicken pox as a child. The virus is dormant in the body after chickenpox has long since disappeared and then suddenly his face showed years later when you are suffering from prolonged stress, use of corticosteroids or using a class of medications called immunosuppressants. Type blisters caused long-term damage to the nerves and is usually found around your mid-section, the lower part of your body, the abdomen, or lower body, but they can appear in other areas of the body.
